From Fabric to Garment – How We Design Lingerie

Behind every set you see at Sartori Atelier, there is more than just fine stitching. There is a search. A story of touch, intuition, detail, and desire.
Each piece is born from an intimate and careful choice: to create something unique, from scratch, for a real person.

It all starts with the fabric

Most of the fabrics I choose are deadstock—materials once forgotten by the industry that now find a second chance in my hands.
I don’t buy in large quantities. I prefer a few meters, just enough to design only a few pieces per model. This makes every set limited by nature.

My hand recognizes quality before my eyes do: the elasticity, the bounce, the softness. If the fabric doesn’t speak to me, it doesn’t enter the atelier.
And when I travel, I always look for those hidden textile gems in local shops. I let myself be swept away by the spark. By that moment when a fabric speaks to you, seduces you.

I also work with French laces of centennial tradition. They are not deadstock, but they are deeply coherent with my values: beauty, European origin, and a quality you can feel just by touching it.

The elastics, on the other hand, are the true foundation of a lingerie garment. They are what hold, what allow something so delicate to last and accompany. Whenever I can, I source them from Catalonia, where there is still good textile production.

The design: when the piece starts to speak

I design every model myself, and I do it thinking of real bodies. Of how they feel, move, are framed.
I am inspired by my clients, my students, their stories, their needs, and their desires. Many of my pieces have straps that trace and frame the body gently, without tightening, just highlighting curves, hollows. I like to test, adjust, move… until I feel the piece comes to life.

Some models were born from small fabric remnants. Like the Lía thong, designed to use up every last triangle. I try to make the patterns generate the least waste possible. It’s not zero waste (curved patterns don’t make it easy), but very little is wasted.
Designing sustainably isn’t just about using certain fabrics; it’s also about thinking about how to cut, how to produce, how to make the most of and give value to the small things.

Collections that respect desire and pace

Every piece from Sartori Atelier is born from intention. That’s why I work in capsule collections: small, carefully designed lines that celebrate the beauty of the limited. Some pieces are already made in selected sizes and ready to ship. Others are made to order, allowing me to minimize overproduction and care for resources with love and respect.

If you prefer to choose from already created models, you can explore the collections and let yourself be seduced by what already exists. You can order them made-to-measure and personalize details; I explain here why choose made-to-measure lingerie. And if you dream of something unique, created for your body and your story, then we design your made-to-measure set together, from scratch.

The design starts with you

For many clients, the process starts with a video call. Others come to the atelier. We take measurements calmly, we talk about preferences, colours, necklines, laces, what you want to cover… and what you don’t.

Some are looking for their wedding set. Others simply want something special. You don’t have to get married to design your made-to-measure lingerie. You just have to give yourself permission.
Write to me, tell me what you would like, and we’ll think about it together. Every decision is a step towards a garment that is truly yours.

Sewing with intention, finishing with love

I sew each piece myself, with a manic attention to detail. Sometimes by machine, some details by hand, to achieve that perfect stitch that only comes from calm.
I’m not interested in mass production. I’m interested in creating with presence.

Each garment is alive. It’s never completely finished; it can always be improved. That is also part of the luxury: the possibility to evolve.

A unique piece

I am developing special packaging, the kind you won’t want to throw away. That feels like it holds something precious.
Because it’s not just a set: it’s your set.
And when you put it on, I want you to feel that.

That it dresses you without imposing itself.
That it embraces you without disguising you.
That it reminds you that you can choose pieces that are worthy of your body, your story, your desire.

Lingerie can be ethical, beautiful, and conscious.
It can be created from a place of calm, respecting the timing, the body, and the authenticity of the person who wears it.

That is Sartori Atelier.
